Intro to Space Usage

This page outlines some basics of space usage processes at L.A. Eco-Village.

The main spaces that everyone uses are units (apartments.) These are governed by the longstanding Move Request Policy. That policy occasionally ends up as a general framework for other space requests.

Outside of rooms there are:

garages - these have been handled on a one-by-one basis. Joe/Carrie/Maeve rent the only individual (family) rented garage (currently $75/month) which Joe got after leading efforts (circa the year 2000) to clear out garages that were unusable due to being filled with junk. Other garages are used for common projects (toolshop, bike parking & sewing, kids art)

parking spaces - there are four (?) parking spaces along the alley. These were mostly grandfathered in for long-term residents (non-members - who mostly previously parked behind the terraces) though one is Aurisha’s. USTU was unable to approve a proposed parking policy that would have charged for them, so they are free.

common spaces - There are some spaces in 117 that are used by various groups or individuals. The Food Lobby uses some parts of unit #109, which is otherwise bike parking. Please add details about these other 117 spaces: basement in north end, hallway closet spaces, others?

work spaces - Jimmy’s Relampago space belongs to BVCLT - so not under USTU control
