Ian Winters

Ian has served as Executive Director of the Northern California Land Trust[1]
since early 2002. Prior to being Executive Director he has been a CLT resident and board member.

His professional history includes a wide range of community organizing
and community land trust experience; as well as a background in
construction,
development and design; and extensive organizational development and
leadership.
Prior to being a staff member he was principal of a private construction
firm and
served as a project manager specializing in sustainable building and
development
for almost 10 years.

He was originally trained as a photographer/filmmaker and art/architectural
historian at Tufts University and the Boston Museum School. That academic
work
focused on the links between society and its economic and social structures,
which
led directly to his practical work with organizations like the NCLT and a
focus on
providing real, achievable structural change in our society. He has pursued
graduate
architecture/design work at the San Francisco Institute of Architecture.
Outside of the NCLT he maintains an active career as an exhibiting artist
and
photographer.
