- GREEN CONSTRUCTION & TECHNOLOGY PREREQUISITE
- GCT Prerequisite 1: Construction Activity Pollution Prevention
Intent: Reduce pollution from construction activities by controlling soil erosion, waterway sedimentation and airborne dust generation.
Requirements: Create and implement an Erosion and Sedimentation Control (ESC) Plan for all construction activities associated with the project. The ESC Plan shall list the Best Management Practices (BMPs) employed and describe how the BMPs accomplish the following objectives:
• Prevent loss of soil during construction by stormwater runoff and/or wind erosion, including protecting topsoil by stockpiling for reuse.
• Prevent sedimentation of any impacted stormwater conveyance systems or receiving streams.
• Prevent polluting the air with dust and particulate matter.
The BMPs shall be selected from the 2003 EPA Construction General Permit (CGP) OR local erosion and
sedimentation control standards and codes, whichever is more stringent.
· A summary of the ESC Plan, including a list of BMPs that will be used and confirmation of whether they were selected from the EPA CGP or local standards and codes.
· Copies of photographs or drawings to document the erosion and sedimentation control measures implemented on the site, or a representative sample thereof.
· A brief narrative describing the erosion and sedimentation control measures implemented on the project.
