the project’s development footprint and other areas that have been graded so as to be effectively impervious.
We need to know whether “project’s development footprint” can be limited to that of the Shared Streets Project or if it should include the entire two-block neighborhood.

Another consideration is the LAUSD plan to demolish the 4-plex on the corner of Bimini Pl. and White House Place. We will want them to comply with the LEED-ND requirements.

The above are about Credit 9, Stormwater.

“Development footprint” is defined as “the total land area of a project site covered by buildings, streets, parking areas, & other typically impermeable surfaces constructed as part of the project.” This would indicate that only the shared street area “constructed” should be counted. It would be interesting to work out the total of all the above as well.

RE: GCT p1v1- Regarding the Green Construction and Technology pre-requisite - they want photos and documentation of sediment and erosion control measures - will we simply send them photos of existing features? Mulch, any catch basins, catchment system, Bimini Slough, etc.? We might also send LA building dept. ordinances regarding typical requirements for sediment and erosion control measures, I suppose. We are supposed to use whatever is more stringent - local codes or EPA 2003 ones, but to figure which is more stringent I’d have to pick through them both…eek. Here is the LA code stuff. http://www.lacity.org/SAN/wpd/Siteorg/download/partb.htm.
here is some EPA 2003 info. http://cfpub.epa.gov/npdes/stormwater/cgp.cfm and http://www.epa.gov/waterscience/guide/construction/devdoc/final/section7.pdf
They suggest using the EPA 2003 criteria unless our local code is more stringent, but they again are assuming brand new construction. Lara has told me existing items are exempt and only shared streets work or other new work is under this pre-requisite requirement.

I bet we know someone in the City who can tell us whether our local requirements are more stringent than EPA requirements.
I think we need to photograph the street area from 1st to 2nd prior to the Shared street work. Just for completeness we could also photograph areas we have “disturbed” and the areas where we want to remove pavement.

So, is there a willing Eco-Villager with a digital camera who could take the pictures and upload them to the wiki?
– susan sherod 2007-10-26 19:23 UTC
There are several digital camera owners. I will put out the request.

“A calculation of either 90% of the average annual rainfall or 1” of rainfall that occurs on the project’s development footprint and other effectively impervious areas.”… 90% of annual rainfall is .9*15”=13.5” OR 1” from impervious areas would be a vastly smaller number, about 1/3 as much.

“Arid Watersheds (less than 20” of rain/year) max 5 points for 0.75” reduction” I am nearly certain they have a typo there and it should be 75%, not .75 of an inch. They say to follow either the Feb. 2007 or this June 2007 GCT section, and the Feb. one says maximum 75%. We need to ask this question.
