1. Anna and Sam Time Frame
They were asking about the time frame for their possibility to move in. They are getting different stories from different people.
Proposal: we can tell them that is going to be more than two months, and they probably need to arrange housing situation.
Yuki will tell them.

2. Green Light

Green Light questions written by Lara:

1. Is this person going to enjoy and value living in one of the apartments?
2. Is this person motivated & available to attend meetings?
3. Is there anyone who feels that adding this person is likely to detract from their own experience of LAEV?

4. In what respects do we anticipate this person making LAEV better?
5. Will this person result in LAEV being more or less diverse.
6. Does the community currently have time & interest sufficient to commit to engaging this person as a candidate for the next 6 months?

this would be THE green light question.

questions:
-what is the greenlight?
The moment in which someone becomes a candidate.
-what happens if someone doesn’t get the greenlight?
There are different opinions. Some think this is the point to discourage unlikely people, some think is not.
There are two questions that both need to have an answer yes in order to be a is the person ready? is the community ready?
-Who gets presented to be green lighted first?
Anyone who has completed the previous check boxes. The Liason needs to schedule the time for the greenlight.

Notes for writing about the green light:
- Community actively accepting person into being candidates.
- We don anticipate it to be a place to eliminate people we don’t think are read, not necessarily making a lot of evaluation.
- Not a moment to say “we don’t know this person”. Lack of information is not a criteria to deny green light, presence of negative experience with the person (such as conflict) could be.
- If we don’t green light
- Green Light doesn’t mean that we will say yes in the future for the person to become a candidate.
- Three Things could happen:
1- They get the Green Light
2- Community not ready (due to capacity, or goals)
3- Interested Person is not a fit

- If the community is not ready we’ll choose to not talk about it for two months as a general rule.

Joe will write a revised version.

We agreed on changing the order of section 1.2 of Membership Process Outline, Green Light comes after the credit check.

3. Orientation
Revising Yuki’s outline of the orientation.
- Add these pages to the wiki
- This is exciting because eco-villagers that do this will sharpen their skills in describing the eco-village and that’s good for eventual outreach.
- It would be a good idea to Compile Frequently Asked Questions from the candidates
- It would be good to have a hand out with “further reading” or resources.
- It would be good to have a one pager with the policies and small descriptions of each one of them.
- Add the participation issue/expectations
- Thiago volunteers to write a short history of the LA Eco-Village to be presented in 5min (1/2 page).
- Joe will draft 1/2 page on intentional communities.
- Lara will do the respectful communications section.

Changes to hand outs need to be sent to Yuki before the next meeting of this committee.

Next Steps, bring it back to this meeting, then present it to the community.

4. Capacity
A discussion that started last meeting about the number of candidates the community can have at the same time.
- We should do 4 “households” and we should set a reconsideration date (in a year - to see if the number we have set serves us well).
- The community can decide to increase this number at any time for reasons such as increasing diversity, or help us meet other goals, etc…
- This should be an agreement on its own, not part of the community green light.
- It shall be named Community Candidate Capacity Policy

Next meeting tentative dates july 5th thursday, or sunday the 8th (4pm), tuesday the 10th, federico will convene.
